Home security and business keying in Langley

Langley is the far end of our Fraser Valley run and it is one service area, not two: the Township and the City are covered by the same van and the same price list, out from the licensed shop at 4105 Macdonald St in Vancouver over Highway 1.

Willoughby and Walnut Grove are almost entirely newer construction, so the work is builder rekeys after possession, smart deadbolts and whole-house keying to one key. Brookswood and Murrayville are older stock where a lock change is often the honest answer. Rekeying is $25-$45 per cylinder, or $60-$120 per cylinder on a restricted high-security keyway, and a lock change is $80-$160 installed.

For the village shops and bed and breakfasts in Fort Langley and the businesses in Langley City, a master key system starts at $300 setup plus $30-$80 per cylinder, or $60-$200 per cylinder on a restricted keyway, with a written key registry. A service call in standard hours is $75, and you get the price on the phone before anyone is dispatched.

Fort Langley

Fort Langley is on the same run as the rest of the Township and it is the one part of Langley where the hardware is genuinely different. The heritage houses along Glover Road and Mavis Avenue still carry mortise locks and rim cylinders that no big-box store stocks a blank for.

We carry the older keyways on the van and cut them on site, and where a mortise body is worn we rebuild it rather than cutting a modern deadbolt into a heritage door. The village shops and the bed and breakfasts get the same treatment: rekeyed to one key, with the original escutcheons left alone.

Fort Langley is covered the same way as the rest of Langley, with the arrival time given on the call. Key cutting for Fort Langley addresses is on the Langley key cutting page.

Key cutting in Langley

Langley key cutting runs off the van, which matters out here because the nearest counter is a long drive in either direction.

Every key is cut on a calibrated machine and tested in the lock before we leave. A key that turns roughly on the first try is a key that will strand you in a year, so we recut rather than hand it over.

Our van leaves the shop at 4105 Macdonald St in Vancouver and reaches most Langley addresses in 45-60 minutes over Highway 1 to the 200th Street exit.

You get the price on the phone before anyone is dispatched, and the technician confirms it at the door before starting work.

Key types we cut in Langley

  • House and office keys: $5-$15 each, or $8-$30 for specialty and commercial blanks
  • Uncut key blank over the counter: $4.75
  • Restricted and high-security keys (Mul-T-Lock, Medeco, Schlage Primus) cut to registered code: $30-$80
  • Transponder car-key spare, cut and coded: $180-$240
  • Proximity smart-key spare: $300-$420

Restricted keyways cannot be copied on demand. That is the point of them. Bring the authorisation card or the strata approval and we cut to the registered code; without it we cannot, and neither can anyone else who is doing it properly.

Cut on site or cut at the counter

Everything is cut and programmed by the same licensed team that runs the counter at 4105 Macdonald St in Vancouver, so a walk-in job and a mobile job are quoted from the same price list.

If the key is unusual, an old mortise blank, a cabinet key, a padlock keyed to a house, we would rather see it than guess. Send a photo when you call and we will load the right blanks before driving to Langley. The site-wide detail is on the key cutting page.

Fleet keys, fobs and spare car keys in Langley

For Langley businesses that run vans, trucks or a few company cars, we cut spare keys in batches instead of one call per key. Transponder spares are $180-$240 each and smart key spares $300-$420, cut and programmed with the vehicle present, and each one is test-started before it goes on the key board. For every vehicle we need documentation tying it to the business: a fleet list, a bill of sale or a work order.

The same goes for the family car in Willoughby, Walnut Grove or out on the Township acreages: one working key is all we need to make a second. Bring it with every other key for the car and registration or insurance papers with photo ID in the same name. A plain metal key with no chip is a blank from $4.75 plus cutting, and a fob whose buttons have stopped is covered on key fob replacement.

Areas we cover in Langley

Langley City is the densest part of the run and the easiest to reach. Willoughby and Walnut Grove are new construction, so the hardware is consistent and the work is fast. Brookswood and Murrayville are older stock with mixed hardware, where we carry more than one keyway on the van. Milner and the farmland east of 232nd are longer drives, which we say up front rather than discover on the day.

Langley locksmith prices

These are the same figures the shop quotes over the counter. The full list is on the prices page.

  • House or business lockout, non-destructive entry: $80-$160
  • Rekey an existing cylinder: $25-$45 per cylinder, or $60-$120 per cylinder on Mul-T-Lock, Medeco and Schlage Primus
  • Lock change with new hardware fitted: $80-$160
  • House and office keys cut: $5-$15 each, or $8-$30 for specialty and commercial blanks
  • Programmed transponder car key: $180-$280. Proximity smart key: $280-$420
  • Safe opening: from $150 residential, from $300 for a commercial TL-15 or TL-30. Combination change $80-$150

Parts are extra only when you ask for new hardware. If a rekey solves the problem we say so, because a $25-$45 per cylinder rekey is a better outcome for you than a lock change you did not need.

Langley locksmith questions

How long does it take you to reach Langley?+
The van comes from the Vancouver shop out Highway 1 to the 200th Street exit, and you get a real arrival time when you call. It is a long run and we price it honestly rather than promising a city drive time.
Do you cover Fort Langley?+
Yes, on the same Langley run. Fort Langley is heritage stock and mortise hardware, so we bring the right blanks rather than guessing on arrival.
What does a Langley rekey cost?+
$25-$45 per cylinder for Schlage, Kwikset, Weiser and Yale, $60-$120 per cylinder for high-security cylinders. Two keys are included on a standard rekey.
Can you cut spare keys for a fleet of work vehicles in Langley?+
Yes, in batches. Transponder spares are $180-$240 each and smart key spares $300-$420, with a fleet list, bill of sale or work order for each vehicle.
Can you cut keys at my Langley address?+
Our van leaves the shop at 4105 Macdonald St in Vancouver and reaches most Langley addresses in 45-60 minutes over Highway 1 to the 200th Street exit.
How much is a house key?+
$5-$15 each, and $4.75 for an uncut blank if you want to keep one on hand.
Why will you not copy my apartment key?+
Because it is a restricted keyway and it says so on the bow. We cut those to a registered code with the building authorisation, which is what stops anyone else copying yours.
Can you cut a key with no original?+
Often yes, by decoding the lock or cutting to code. That is a different job from a copy and it is quoted before we start.
