If the case is cracked, the rubber over the buttons has worn through, or the blade has snapped where it meets the head, a shell is the economical repair, because the electronics you already own move across. Three buttons on these keys means lock, unlock and panic, with no trunk button, so if yours has four you need the four-button version. The blade in the new shell arrives uncut. We cut it to your existing key or to code, then transfer the circuit board and the transponder chip from the old housing. Because the electronics are the originals, there is usually nothing to reprogram, and the key should start the car as before. That only works if your old key still functions.
