The Tribeca was Subaru's seven-seat crossover, and in its last years it stuck with a remote head key instead of moving to push-button start. This replacement has the head moulded around a fixed blade, with four buttons, usually lock, unlock, rear gate and panic. Turning it in the ignition wakes the immobiliser, which reads the chip in the head before allowing the engine to run. Since the Tribeca was only sold in small numbers, people are sometimes surprised a key is available at all. We cut the blade to your existing key or by code, then program the transponder and pair the remote with the vehicle on site. Paperwork showing it is your vehicle, the registration and photo ID, is part of the visit. Tribeca owners who come to us usually have one key left and want a second before that one fails too, which is the right time to do it. Adding to a working key is easier than starting over. If the remote has gone dead but the engine still starts, the remote side of the board may have failed while the chip is fine; we can test that for you before you replace the whole key.
