The first-generation Volt is the only Chevrolet here whose key has a plug button. Alongside lock, unlock, remote start and panic, one button opens the charging port door, which is why a standard GM five-button flip key is not a substitute. If your Volt key has a little plug icon on it, this is the replacement. The Volt uses push-button start, but the car still reads the key's transponder, and the flip blade still opens the driver's door. So the job has two parts: cut the blade to your door lock, then program the fob to the car so the Volt will power up and the remote functions work.
