Acura's two sedans in this window, the mid-size TLX and the compact ILX, use a four button proximity fob: lock, unlock, trunk and panic. If your Acura has remote start, your factory fob may carry an extra button, so check your current key against that list. The car unlocks when you touch the handle with the fob nearby and starts from the button on the dash. When the fob's battery runs low, Acura, like Honda, lets you start by touching the fob to the engine start button itself. Getting in without power is handled by the small mechanical key that pulls out of the fob, which we cut to your door. The ILX and TLX are popular second-hand cars, and a lot of the fobs we replace belong to buyers who received one key at purchase. A second fob is worth having before you need it, because programming with a working key in hand is the simpler job.
