Mul-T-Lock Interactive+ is a patented restricted-keyway high-security cylinder platform used in commercial, government, and high-end residential applications across Greater Vancouver. The defining features are a telescoping pin design (each key cut moves an internal pin within a pin within a pin), a sidebar mechanism that adds a second authentication axis, and a restricted-keyway profile that legally cannot be duplicated without an authorized dealer and a signed key card.
The result is a cylinder rated against picking, bumping, and impressioning at the highest commercial grades. Combined with the patented key control, it's the platform we recommend for any property where you need verifiable answers to "how many copies of this key exist and who has them."
Interactive+ features
Telescoping pin design
Each pin in the stack is actually three concentric pins. A standard pick attack would have to align all three layers simultaneously while also engaging the sidebar. In practice, no successful field-pick of an Interactive+ cylinder has been documented in 20+ years of deployment.
Sidebar authentication
In addition to the standard pin shear line, Interactive+ keys include a sidebar feature that engages a separate locking bar inside the cylinder. The cylinder cannot turn unless both the pin shear line is correct AND the sidebar is correctly positioned. Two-axis authentication.
Restricted keyway with patented profile
The Interactive+ keyway is patented through 2030+. Legally, no key copy can be made without a signed key card from the owner of record. Authorized dealers (us) maintain the registry. This makes the platform suitable for environments requiring auditable key control — multi-unit residential, healthcare, financial services, government.
Drill-resistant cylinder body
Hardened steel inserts at critical drill points (shear line, sidebar bar). Standard residential drill attacks don't progress on Interactive+ cylinders. Required hardware for many insurance-discount-eligible commercial security upgrades.

Interactive+ FAQs
How does Interactive+ compare to MT5+ or Medeco M3?
All three are top-tier restricted-keyway platforms. Interactive+ uses telescoping pins + sidebar; MT5+ uses a different sidebar design and is the newer Mul-T-Lock platform; Medeco M3 uses rotating pins. In real-world deployment, security level is comparable across all three. Selection is usually a question of dealer relationships and which key system already exists in adjacent buildings.
Can I add Interactive+ to an existing master-key system?
Yes. Interactive+ supports multi-level master keying including grandmaster, master, sub-master, and individual change keys. We can design a new system from scratch or extend an existing Mul-T-Lock system to add Interactive+ at specific high-security points (server rooms, executive offices, evidence storage).
How do I get a copy of my Interactive+ key?
Bring the original key card (the white plastic ID card you received at install) and one of your existing keys to our shop, or a property manager with documented authorization can request copies. Without the key card and signature, we are legally not able to cut a copy. This is the point of the platform.
What happens if I lose my key card?
Contact us immediately. We can reissue the key card after verifying ownership through the original install records (proof of address, property documents). A reissue requires a notarized affidavit and takes 5-7 business days. Don't delay if you've lost the card — it's the document that lets you control your key copies.
