Single key turn engages 5-9 deadbolts simultaneously into the frame at top, sides, and bottom. Far more force-resistant than a single-bolt deadbolt. Locking bar is steel, riding inside the door body — pry attacks at the deadbolt face don't help.

Day-to-day care — keeping the multi-point locking bar lubricated with a graphite-based lubricant, checking the strike alignment annually — you can do yourself. Most service issues come from the locking bar drifting out of alignment over years of use.
