Lexus remote head keys are built well inside and less well outside. After years in a pocket the rubber button pad tears, the logo falls off, and the two halves of the case start to separate at the tip. When the electronics still work, there is no reason to replace them, and this shell lets you keep them. What you are buying is the empty housing: the three-button pad (lock, unlock and panic on most models), the case halves and an uncut blade. No circuit board and no transponder chip come with it. We open your old key, move the board and chip into the new case, and cut the blade to your car. Since the car already knows those parts, the finished key generally works without any programming. Test before you assume the case is the only problem. If the buttons still work when pressed hard, or the car starts but the remote is intermittent, a shell is usually the answer. If the remote does nothing even with a new battery, the board may be at fault and a full key is the better buy.
