Winter is when a lot of Nissan owners first notice their remote head key fading. A coin cell that was fine in September starts losing range once temperatures drop, and you find yourself pressing unlock two or three times at the curb. Before buying anything, swap the battery. If the range comes back, you are done. When it does not, or the key has been lost, this four-button version replaces it. The buttons are typically lock, unlock, trunk or hatch, and panic, but Nissan varied the layout across this long year range, and some models put a different function on the fourth button.
