The Lexus smart key, and how we set one up.
Lexus smart keys tend to outlast their cases. The leather-look trim peels, the chrome edge chips, and eventually the case separates at the seam. Meanwhile the electronics keep working. That is the job for this shell. It is an empty four-button housing that matches the Lexus layout, normally lock, unlock, trunk and panic. We move your existing circuit board into it and close it up. Because the board does not change, the car keeps recognising the key. There is nothing to program and no need to bring the car. A shell only helps if the board is healthy. If your key still unlocks the car and lets you push-start, you are a good candidate. If the car says it cannot find the key even with a fresh battery, the problem is inside, and a new case will not cure it. The emergency blade usually needs attention too. If yours is missing or worn, we can cut a new one to your door lock while we are at it. Lexus changed key shapes across this period, so bring your key in so we can match the case to your board.
