Does your Prius or 4Runner beep and show a key not found message when you press the start button? Before buying anything, hold the fob against the start button and try again. If it starts, the fob battery is low and a new cell will fix it. If it does not, or the fob is lost, this three-button smart key is the replacement for 2009 to 2018 models with push button start. Its buttons are lock, unlock and panic. Inside the fob is a slide-out metal key for the driver's door, used when the fob is completely dead. On the electronic side, the vehicle has to learn the new key before it will unlock by touch or allow the engine to start, and that registration is done with diagnostic equipment while the vehicle is present. You can bring it to our counter on Macdonald St or have us do the work where it is parked. We cut the mechanical key to your lock during the same visit. Please bring proof of ownership and photo ID. Making a key when one still works is the quicker job, and if none remain we make one from scratch.
