The extra button is the difference between this shell and its three-button sibling. Mazda 3 smart keys from 2010 to 2013 came in two layouts, and the four-button one adds a trunk or hatch release to lock, unlock and panic. A board from a four-button key will only fit and work in a four-button case, so count before you order. This is a housing without electronics. It makes sense when the electronics are fine but the case has given up, which on these fobs usually means a split seam, a missing battery cover or rubber buttons torn by keys rubbing against them on the ring. Your original board moves into the new shell and keeps its programming, so the car will recognise it straight away. The shell includes an uncut auxiliary blade. We cut it to your lock and, if you like, do the board swap for you at our counter. If the old fob no longer works electronically, or has been lost entirely, a shell cannot fix that and a complete four-button smart key is needed. Ask us to confirm the fit by bringing in your old key.
