Hyundai's plain chipped key from these years uses the HY18 blade, and its rubber head is famous for tearing loose from the blade or splitting open until the transponder chip drops out. This shell gives you a new head and an uncut HY18 blade, ready to receive the chip from your old key. Because it is a shell, there is no transponder supplied. We carefully remove the chip from your old key and seat it in the new one, then cut the blade to match your old key or your code. The car will recognise the chip as before, so there is no programming and the vehicle does not have to come in. That only works if you still have the chip. If it has fallen out and been lost, or the key went missing altogether, you need a complete transponder key, which we cut and program at the car. Check that your current key has no remote buttons, as this shell is for the buttonless key only. Bring your old key to our counter at 4105 Macdonald St and we will move the chip while you wait for the cut.
