On the 2015-2017 Sonata, base trims start with a turn of a folding key, and this is that key. Press the release and the blade flips out from the remote head; the four buttons are lock, unlock, trunk and panic. Sonatas with a start button use a smart key, not this one. A Sonata flip key usually fails one of three ways. The blade stops locking open because the spring is tired. The blade snaps at the pivot. Or the remote quits while the car still starts, which is often just the battery. The first two can sometimes be solved by moving your electronics into a new case; we will look at your key and suggest the cheaper fix if it works. When you need a full replacement, we cut the blade on our code machine and program the transponder and the remote to the car.
