Key Blanks 1571 Vancouver

Older locks have a way of outlasting their paperwork. A cabinet that came from a relative, a shed padlock or the back door of an older house may have one key left and no record of what it is. If that key matches the 1571 profile, we can make you a copy before the original disappears too. We look at the key end on to read the groove pattern, measure the blade and check the shoulder. If it lines up with the 1571, we trace it and finish the copy. Old keys are often softer brass with rounded cuts, so we look carefully at the wear; sometimes decoding and cutting the intended depths gives a better result than copying exactly. If the key is very old or unusual and does not match, we will tell you rather than cut a near miss. There may be another blank, or the lock may need a different approach. Bring the key to 4105 Macdonald St along with a description of what it opens.
