Ram key and fob replacement in Vancouver

A Ram is usually working when its key goes missing, which is why we come to the truck rather than asking for it at a counter. A blade transponder key for an older 1500, 2500 or 3500, or for either ProMaster van, is $180-$280 cut and programmed. A Fobik or a proximity key on the newer trucks is $280-$420. All keys lost starts from $180.

Most Vancouver addresses are 20 to 30 minutes from the shop at 4105 Macdonald St, and we go to sites and depots as readily as driveways. Published figures are on the price list. Ram 1500

Blade transponder and Fobik on the older trucks, proximity key on the current one. The 1500 is the Ram we cut most keys for in Vancouver.

Ram 2500 and 3500

Blade transponder and Fobik through the older heavy trucks, proximity on the newest. Same programming route as the 1500.

ProMaster

Blade transponder throughout, with no proximity option. That makes it the simplest van in the range to rekey and the easiest to cut a fleet set for.

ProMaster City

Blade transponder only. Small van, same immobiliser family, cut and programmed at the kerb.

What a Ram key costs, dealer or locksmith

Published figures. A truck that will not start has to reach the dealership somehow, and that is usually the biggest line on the bill.

Blade transponder key

$180-$280 cut and written to the immobiliser. Older 1500, 2500, 3500 and both vans.

Fobik or proximity key

$280-$420 for the newer trucks with a slot key or push-button start.

Spare beside a working key

$180-$240 blade, $300-$420 Fobik or proximity. On a working vehicle this is the version worth booking.

Fleet sets

Vans cut to one code and documented, quoted per key on the same published bands.

Service call

A $75 service call in standard hours, which covers most depot and site calls. Evening labour $150, overnight $250/hour.

Ram ignition wear and keys lost on site

Cylinders past 150,000 km

Ram ignition cylinders are the most frequent non-key call we get on this badge. The key turns hard, then only in one position, then not at all. We replace the cylinder at the truck and rekey it to your existing key where the lock allows. That work is ignition repair.

Keys lost on a job

A key that went into a skip or a trench is an all-keys-lost job. We need proof of ownership and the VIN, then the truck stays where it is while we cut and program.

Fobik shells on the older trucks

Where the shell has split but the electronics are fine, a transfer into a new shell takes minutes and costs a fraction of a new key.
