BMW Key & Fob Replacement Vancouver

A BMW key is not a blade with a chip glued to it. The credential lives in the CAS or FEM module and is tied to the ISN held by the engine controller, which is why a BMW key costs more than a Japanese one and why most shops send the car to the dealer. Comfort Access is the proximity system that unlocks the car as you reach for the handle and lets it start on the button. Replacing one is not a matter of cloning: the fob has to be written into the vehicle's key table, and the car has to accept it.

With a working fob in hand

We read the key table, add the new Comfort Access fob and verify start, central locking, boot release and the handle sensors. Your existing fobs keep working.

With no working fob

All keys lost means reading the CAS or FEM module and recovering the ISN from the engine controller before a virgin fob can be written. That is the long version of the job and it is the reason the European band exists.

Cracked diamond shells

The older diamond-shaped fob cracks at the seam. Where the electronics are intact we move them into a fresh shell instead of selling you a new key.

E90 and E60 ignition switch failures are well documented and we replace them at the car rather than sending the vehicle in. On F and G chassis cars the start button is electronic, so a no-start is almost always the fob, the battery or a module, and diagnosing which one is the first thing we do.
