The Chrysler smart key, and how we set one up.
Look closely at the fourth button on your fob. On Chrysler-group vehicles from 2005 to 2009 it usually controls the liftgate or remote start, alongside lock, unlock and panic. Whatever it is, your board already knows how to do it, and this shell gives that board a new body.
The case is empty when it arrives. We open your old fob carefully, since tired plastic sometimes cracks further on opening, transfer the board and any internal parts, and close it in the new shell. No programming happens, so the vehicle does not have to come in.
This is the right buy when the outside is the problem: worn button pad, split seam, broken ring loop. It is the wrong buy when the fob is dead. If pressing buttons on the bare board does nothing even with a fresh battery, the board has failed and a new fob needs to be programmed to the vehicle.
