The Acura flip key, and how we set one up.
There are two four-button flip keys for the MDX and RDX in this period, and from the outside they look the same. The difference lies inside, in the remote board and the frequency it transmits on, which varied with model, year and market. Getting the wrong one means a key that cuts perfectly and starts the engine but whose buttons never pair. To avoid that, we match by the part number or FCC ID on the back of your existing remote, or by VIN if the key is lost. Once matched, the key is cut and programmed in the usual way. The blade is machined on our code machine to your ignition and doors, the transponder is registered to the immobiliser, and the remote is paired. Bring the SUV, registration and photo ID. Buttons on this unit are lock, unlock, liftgate and panic. If your MDX or RDX lacks a power liftgate, the 3-button key is the better buy. If you are down to one key, getting a spare now is cheaper and easier than later. If all keys are lost, we handle that too, at the vehicle.
