Five buttons on a GM flip key normally means the full set: lock, unlock, trunk or liftgate, remote start and panic. The extra buttons make the case a little bigger, and like every flip key it is the folding mechanism that gives out first. A worn pivot lets the blade wobble, a snapped spring means it no longer opens on its own, and a split case can let the battery and board tumble out in a parking lot. This is the outer housing only. Your old key's circuit board, with its transponder and remote already known to the vehicle, comes out and goes into this case, so nothing has to be reprogrammed. We then cut the blade in the new shell to match your old one, by tracing or from code. Before you order, be sure the board inside your key is still healthy. If the remote start or lock buttons stopped responding even with a new battery, the electronics may be the issue, and a complete key would be the better buy.
