The second-generation RDX switched from a turbo four to a V6 in 2013 and brought keyless access along with it on most trims. Its four-button smart key carries lock, unlock, the power tailgate and panic. Looking at the ILX key from the same period, you might think they are identical, but the button legends and internals suit each model, so order by vehicle. On a cold morning, a weak fob battery is the most common reason an RDX will not detect its key. Acura provides a backup method in the owners manual, usually holding the fob close to the start button. If that works, the fix is a coin cell, not a new key. When you do need a new one, we register it with the RDX present and cut the internal key to your driver's door.
