The Acura flip key, and how we set one up.
Acura flip key owners know the moment: you press the release and the blade falls out sideways, or the case splits in half as you pull it from your pocket. If the buttons still work, the fix may be nothing more than this empty four-button housing. It comes with a new blade and hinge, but no electronics. We open your old key, move the remote board and transponder into this shell, and cut the blade on our code machine to fit your ignition and doors. The transferred board means your Acura still knows the key, so programming is not needed. That also means the car does not have to come with you for the shell swap. Bring the key to 4105 Macdonald St and we can do it at the counter. The rule of thumb: a shell rescues a key that is physically broken but electronically fine. If your remote no longer works even with a fresh battery, or the car will not start with it, the board may be the issue and a complete flip key is the right choice. Since Acura flip keys varied by model, bring the old key so we can check its board fits.
