Toyota's remote head keys outlast most, but the button pad eventually wears through and the plastic head can crack where the blade meets it. If your RAV4 key still starts the vehicle and the buttons still work, you probably do not need a whole new key. A shell like this replaces the worn housing and keeps your original electronics. To be clear about what is in the box: it is the case, button pad and uncut blade only. There is no circuit board, no transponder chip and no battery. We open your old key, move the board and chip into the new shell, and cut the blade to your RAV4 so it turns in the doors and ignition. Since the electronics are the ones the vehicle already knows, programming is normally not needed.
