Automotive Keys 2013-2018 Toyota RAV4 / 4-Button Smart Key Vancouver

Fourth generation RAV4s with push button start use this four button Smart Key, and the RAV4 is the Toyota we are called about more than any other when a fob goes missing. The fob covers the 2013 to 2018 model years. Its buttons run lock, unlock, the rear liftgate and the panic alarm, and its real function is passive: the RAV4 reads the fob through the door handle and the cabin antenna, unlocks when you touch the handle and starts from the button without the fob ever leaving your pocket. Tucked inside is a mechanical blade for the door, which we cut, while the fob itself is written to the immobiliser and the body computer, which we program. Both happen here rather than at a dealership, with the RAV4 parked at 4105 Macdonald St in Vancouver or wherever it is stuck. Make sure you are ordering the right thing. This is a complete fob with a working board inside. A shell is the case and rubber buttons only, meant for a fob that still does everything but has split open, and it is the cheaper fix when your electronics are fine. Winter is when RAV4 fobs fail most, and the failure is rarely the fob: a cell that was marginal in October gives out in the first cold snap and the dash reports no key detected. We replace the cell and resync before selling anyone a fob. The other common story is a fob dropped on a ski hill, in which case a spare is written from the surviving fob in a single sitting; if that was the only one, the job becomes all keys lost and the immobiliser needs a security wait before it accepts a new key, so allow more time. Bring the registration, photo identification and any remaining fob. Stock and timing questions go to 604-734-7233.
