The RLX was Acura's flagship sedan, built in small numbers, and its 4-button smart key is specific to it. The buttons are lock, unlock, trunk and panic. Because the RLX sold in modest volumes, owners sometimes find replacement fobs harder to track down than for a common Honda, so it is worth calling us first to check that this one is in stock and matches your car. On an RLX the fob does everything: unlocks the doors when you touch the handle, enables the push button start, and pops the trunk. A mechanical emergency key is hidden inside for the driver's door, and if the fob battery dies, holding the fob against the start button generally still lets the car start. For a replacement, we cut that emergency key to your door and program the new fob to the RLX with diagnostic equipment. It needs the car present, its registration and your photo ID. Adding a spare while you still have a working fob is the smoother path; with none left, there is more work at the vehicle. Fobs from other Acura models may look close, but use this one only for the RLX.
