The Jeep fobik key, and how we set one up.
Five buttons on a Cherokee fob means the full set: lock, unlock, panic, the rear liftgate and remote start. Cherokees built with remote start from the factory use this fob, and in a Vancouver winter that remote start button is the one owners miss most when the fob is gone. A reminder that matters: the remote start button only works if the Jeep came with remote start. A 5-button fob on a Cherokee without it programs fine, but that button does nothing. Match what you have. Getting a new fob working is a two-part job. First we cut the mechanical key that lives inside the fob to your driver's door, so you have a way in when the battery is flat. Then we program the fob to the Cherokee through its diagnostic port, which needs the vehicle in front of us along with the registration and your photo ID. One working fob in hand makes it a quicker visit. If every fob is gone, the Jeep can still be done; plan for more time with the vehicle.
