Elantras of this generation came in two flavours: a turn-key version with a flip key, and push-button-start trims that use this proximity fob. Check your dash for a start button before you order. On push-start cars, the fob has four buttons, usually lock, unlock, trunk and panic, and lets the car unlock when you press the button on the door handle. The Elantra GT hatchback is a different car with its own keys, so it is not covered here. When we make one of these, the emergency blade inside the fob gets cut to your driver's door first. Then the fob is programmed to the car, which means the Elantra must be present with its registration and your photo ID. If you are buying a used Elantra that came with only one fob, adding a second now costs less effort than dealing with an all-keys-lost situation later.
