Nissan calls its proximity system the Intelligent Key, and the Rogue has used it across the whole range, so the 2017 to 2020 Rogue takes this five button fob rather than a cut key. Our Nissan page says the Rogue is the Nissan we replace more fobs for than any other, and that a second fob is the most common booking, which tells you where most of these go: into the hands of owners who have only ever had one. The five buttons typically run lock, unlock, the power liftgate, remote start and panic, and the fob carries the transponder for the immobiliser and the transmitter for those functions. A slim emergency blade is stowed in the fob for the driver's door and we cut it to fit. Programming is done through the diagnostic port at the vehicle, exactly as our Nissan page describes, with the Rogue at 4105 Macdonald St in Vancouver or wherever it is parked, and a Nissan dealership plays no part. A spare fob beside a working one is written in a short visit; a Rogue with no fob at all has its module read first, then a fresh fob written and the lost one voided so it can never start the car.
