Car Key Duplication Vancouver: Spare Keys & Transponder Clones

A spare car key is the cheapest insurance a driver can buy. Cutting one while your original still works costs a fraction of what the same car costs the day every key is gone, because the original key carries everything we need: the blade pattern and, on most vehicles, a chip we can clone straight across.

• Transponder spare, cut and programmed: $180-$240. Chip keys for most Honda, Toyota, Ford, GMC and Chrysler vehicles.
• Smart key spare: $300-$420. A second push-to-start fob paired to the vehicle.
• Restricted and high-security keys, cut to registered code: $30-$80.
• Plain metal car key, no chip: a blank plus cutting. Blanks start at $4.75.

The $75 service call covers standard hours. After-hours labour starts at $150 from 5-9 pm and runs $250/hour from 9 pm to 8:30 am, and the rate is quoted on the phone before we dispatch. Every figure on this page is the same one published on the prices page.

Duplication needs one key that already works. That is the whole difference in price: with a working key we clone or add a key in minutes, and without one the car has to be put into programming mode from scratch.

Bring, or have with you at the vehicle:

• The working key or fob itself, not a photo of it.
• Every other key you own for the car. A handful of makes force a full relearn when a key is added, and any key not present that day stops working.
• The vehicle, for anything with a chip. A plain metal key can be cut from the original alone, but a chip has to meet the car.
• Proof of ownership. Registration or insurance papers plus photo ID in the same name. We check this on every car key we cut.

• Edge-cut metal keys. The classic notched blade, cut on a duplicator in a couple of minutes.
• Laser-cut and sidewinder blades. Thicker keys with a milled channel, cut on a separate machine.
• Transponder chip keys. Cloned onto a blank chip where the make allows it, or written into the vehicle as an extra key.
• Remote head and flip keys. Blade cut, chip programmed and buttons paired.
• Proximity smart keys. Added to the vehicle key memory with the car present.
• Valet and emergency blades. The thin blade hidden inside a smart fob, replaced on its own.

A plain metal duplicate is a walk-in job: the counter cuts it while you wait. Anything with a chip has to meet the car, so either drive to the shop or we come to you. Both are the same price for the key itself.
