Chrysler key and fob replacement in Vancouver

Chrysler ran three key formats in twenty years and the price follows the format, not the badge. An older blade transponder for a Town and Country, a PT Cruiser or a Sebring is $180-$280. The slot-in Fobik and the Keyless Enter-N-Go proximity key used on the 300, the Pacifica and the Voyager are $280-$420. All keys lost starts from $180.

Every version is programmed at the car. Vancouver calls are usually 20 to 30 minutes from the shop at 4105 Macdonald St. The published bands live on the price list, and the car key replacement page is the same work across the rest of the makes.

Pacifica and Voyager

Keyless Enter-N-Go proximity key. The credential is written through the vehicle module at the kerb, no dealer visit.

Chrysler 300

Fobik on the middle years, proximity on the newest cars. The 300 is the Chrysler we are called to most in Vancouver, and the one whose ignition cylinder wears first.

Town and Country, and 200

Blade transponder on the older vans, Fobik through the middle years, proximity on the last 200s.

PT Cruiser, Sebring, Aspen and Crossfire

Blade transponder. The Crossfire uses a Mercedes-derived system, so it is programmed the European way rather than the Chrysler way.

What a Chrysler key costs, dealer or locksmith

Published figures. A Fobik ordered through a dealership arrives unprogrammed and still has to meet the car.

$180-$280 for the older vans and sedans, cut and written to the immobiliser.

Fobik or Keyless Enter-N-Go

$280-$420 for the 300, Pacifica, Voyager and the later Town and Country.

Spare beside a working key

$180-$240 blade, $300-$420 for a Fobik or proximity spare.

All keys lost

From $180. The vehicle security data is recovered at the car and the missing key is voided.

Service call

Standard hours are a $75 service call. From 5 to 9 pm after-hours labour is $150, and $250/hour from 9 pm to 8:30 am.

Fobik wear and Chrysler ignition faults

The Fobik that stopped being read

A Fobik slides into a dash slot instead of turning a cylinder, and the slot contacts collect dirt. After five or six years the car reads the key intermittently. Cleaning the slot and testing the Fobik comes before selling a replacement.

Cylinders on the 300 and Sebring

Past roughly 150,000 km these cylinders bind, and in the worst cases release the key while the car is running. We replace the cylinder at the kerb; that job is ignition repair.

Module resets after a flat battery

Pacifica and Voyager owners sometimes find the key ignored after the 12 volt battery has gone flat. That is a relearn, not a new key.
