Kia key and fob replacement in Vancouver

Kia shares its immobiliser family with Hyundai, so the equipment and the bands are the same. A blade transponder key for an older Sportage, Forte, Soul, Rio or Sorento is $180-$280 cut and programmed. A proximity smart key for a Telluride, Carnival, EV6, Seltos or a newer Sportage is $280-$420. All keys lost starts from $180.

Sportage and Forte are the two Kias we are called to most in Vancouver. Everything is cut and programmed where the car is, usually 20 to 30 minutes from the shop at 4105 Macdonald St. Published figures are on the price list, and the car key replacement page carries the same work for every other make.

Sportage and Sorento

Blade transponder on the older crossovers, proximity smart key from the mid-2010s. Sportage is our most common Kia key call.

Forte, Soul and Rio

Blade transponder for most of their run, proximity on the newer Forte and Soul. These are also the Kias most often needing a full ignition rebuild after a theft attempt.

Telluride, Carnival, K5 and Stinger

Proximity smart key only. The credential is written at the car through the OBD port.

EV6, Niro and Seltos

Proximity smart key, with digital key features on some trims. We program the physical fob; the phone-based key is set up in the vehicle menu.

Proximity smart key

$280-$420 for Telluride, Carnival, EV6, Seltos and the newer Sportage, Forte and Sorento.

$180-$240 blade, $300-$420 proximity.

From $180. The immobiliser data is recovered at the car and the key that went missing is voided.

Service call

A $75 service call in standard hours, $150 of labour from 5 to 9 pm, and $250/hour between 9 pm and 8:30 am.

The blade-key Sportage, Forte, Soul, Sorento and Optima built through the second half of the 2010s were targeted, and many of the ones we see need a cylinder rebuild rather than just a key. We rebuild and rekey at the car; the cylinder work is ignition repair.

Fobs that lose contact

Proximity fobs on the newer Sportage lose battery contact inside the shell before the cell itself dies. A shell swap with the original electronics is usually the whole fix.
