Nissan & Infiniti Key Replacement Vancouver

Nissan and Infiniti run the same key hardware, so this page covers both. An Intelligent Key proximity fob for a Rogue, Altima, Murano, Pathfinder, a newer Sentra or Frontier, or an Infiniti Q50, QX50, QX60 or QX80, is $280-$420 cut and programmed. The older blade transponder cars are $180-$280. All keys lost starts from $180.

Nissan calls its proximity system the Intelligent Key, and which cars have it is the first thing worth checking before anyone quotes you.

Rogue

Intelligent Key across the range. The Rogue is the Nissan we replace the most fobs for in Vancouver, and second fobs are the most common booking.

Altima and Murano

The Altima moves from a blade transponder to the Intelligent Key part way through its life; the Murano has been Intelligent Key throughout. Both are written through the OBD port at the vehicle.

Sentra

Blade transponder for most of its run, Intelligent Key on the current car. The Sentra is also where worn ignition cylinders turn up.

Pathfinder and Frontier

Pathfinder switched to Intelligent Key earlier than the Frontier, which stayed on a blade key until the current truck. Remote start and tailgate functions are tested with the finished key.

Published figures. A dealer fob is ordered in and still has to be programmed to the car it belongs to.

Q50, QX50, QX60, QX80 and the G cars. Infiniti is Nissan's luxury division and shares the Intelligent Key platform, the blanks and the programming route. A Q50 fob and a Rogue fob are the same class of job, which keeps Infiniti keys out of the European band and inside the $280-$420 proximity band.

The QX60 is the Infiniti we are called to most in Vancouver. The G35 and G37 are the two whose ignition cylinders wear first, and on those the complaint usually arrives as a key problem rather than a lock problem. Model detail is on the Infiniti key and fob page.

The car that says no key detected

On the Rogue, the Q50 and the QX60 the antenna ring around the start button fails often enough that we test it before selling a fob. A good key and a deaf car look identical from the driver's seat.

Altima and Sentra ignition wear

These cylinders bind and then trap the key. We replace the cylinder at the kerb and key it to your existing key where the lock allows. That work is ignition repair.

Fob cells every two or three years

Intelligent Key cells are consumables. A car that has stopped unlocking on approach usually wants a cell and a resync, not a new fob.
