A chipped Ford ignition key for 1996 to 2006 models, cut to your locks and added to the PATS immobiliser.

From the mid-1990s on, Ford put a transponder in the head of nearly every ignition key under its Passive Anti-Theft System, usually shortened to PATS. That covers a lot of Tauruses, Rangers, Explorers, F-Series pickups and Focus models from this era, plus some Mazda models built on shared Ford platforms. The key looks like a basic black-head key; the security is invisible. The detail that matters for Ford owners: on many of these vehicles, if you already have two working keys, a third can be added using an on-board procedure. If you have only one, or none, a programming tool is needed. Either way, the new key still has to be cut first, and we do that from your existing key or from code. The blade profile changed within this date range, so we confirm the right one for your vehicle before cutting. Bring the key you have, or tell us the year, model and engine when you call. Typical signs you need a new one: the theft light on the dash flashes and the engine will not start, the plastic head has split, or the blade is so worn it only turns at a certain angle. For programming we need the vehicle, its registration and your photo ID. Our counter is at 4105 Macdonald St, and we also do this on mobile calls.
