Honda and Acura remote head keys from this era wear in a predictable order: first the rubber button pad tears, then the plastic around the blade cracks, and eventually the blade loosens in the head. Through all of it the electronics usually keep working. A four-button shell replaces everything you can see and keeps everything inside. You get the empty housing, the button pad and an uncut blade. We open your old key, lift out the circuit board and the transponder chip, and seat them in the new case. The blade is cut to match your ignition. Because the car already recognises that board and chip, there is no programming and the vehicle does not have to be with us, though it helps to test. Four buttons on these keys usually means lock, unlock, trunk and panic. Count the buttons on your own key before ordering; a three-button board will not sit properly in a four-button case. If the board itself has failed, for instance from water damage, a shell will not bring it back, and a new programmed key is the answer.
