The Mazda transponder key, and how we set one up.
Unlike the shells listed beside it, this is a full key: blade, head and a transponder chip ready to be introduced to your Mazda. Use it when a key is lost, when the chip in your old key has failed, or when you simply want a second key to keep in a drawer.
The MZ24 and MZ34 profiles cover most Mazda passenger cars and SUVs of these years. Mazda used more than one chip type over that span, so ask us to confirm for your model and year; we match the chip before cutting rather than guessing.
Getting it working takes two steps. We cut the blade on a code machine, either by copying a working key or from the code if all keys are gone. Then we program the chip to the car's immobiliser, which requires the Mazda to be present along with the registration and your photo ID.
An existing working key makes the second step much easier. When none is available, we may need to work out the cuts from a door lock first. You can come by 4105 Macdonald St, or we can program it where the car is parked.
