The Mazda transponder key, and how we set one up.
The difference between this shell and a basic one is a small carrier inside the head that grips the transponder chip. Mazda chips of this era are loose glass or carbon capsules that rattle in their cavity, and in a cheap shell they can shift, crack or fall out the moment the case is opened. The holder keeps the chip in place where the ignition antenna expects to find it.
It fits keys on the MZ24 and MZ34 blade profiles, which together cover a wide run of Mazda cars and SUVs from 2003 to 2014. Like any shell it ships without a chip. Your old key's chip is the one we use, so the car never needs to learn anything new.
What happens at the counter: we open the damaged key, check the chip, clip it into the holder, close the case and cut the new blade to match your ignition. The whole job is mechanical.
If the car cranks but does not start with your current key, test before you buy. That symptom sometimes means the chip has already gone missing, and a missing chip calls for a new transponder key, not a shell.
