Hidden inside the 2009 to 2015 Mazda smart key is a short metal blade, and this is the replacement for it. Mazda calls it the auxiliary key. You slide a catch on the fob, the blade pulls out, and it opens the driver's door when the fob battery is dead or the car's battery has gone flat. It does not start the engine. There is no transponder chip and nothing electronic, which means no programming and no need to bring the car in. It also means it costs less effort to replace than any other part of the key. Why would you need one? Most often the original slipped out of the fob unnoticed, or was taken off to use separately and lost. Sometimes a second-hand car arrives with the fob but no blade inside. Cutting is the job. We cut the blade to your Mazda's door lock by code, so it works even if no other blade exists, or copy it from a working one. Bring the fob with you so we can check the blade seats and locks into place. Different Mazda models used different fobs, so ask us to confirm for yours.
