Several Acuras of this era came with a folding key carrying three buttons: lock, unlock and panic or trunk depending on model. Press the release and the blade swings out ready for the ignition. Acura flip keys have a known weak spot at the hinge. The blade loosens, refuses to lock in the open position, or will not fold back. The case can crack near the battery cover, letting the board move around. There are three ways forward depending on what has failed. A worn blade can be replaced on its own. A broken case can take a shell, keeping your electronics. A lost key, or one whose remote no longer works, needs this complete unit. Programming a complete key involves adding the chip to the immobiliser and pairing the remote, done with the vehicle present after we cut the blade on our code machine.
