The Mazda smart key, and how we set one up.
This is the case only for a 2010 to 2013 Mazda 3 three-button smart key, with no circuit board inside. If your fob still locks, unlocks and starts the car but the housing has cracked, the buttons have worn through, or the battery door will not stay shut, a new shell is all you need. The board carries the key's programming, so once it moves across the car recognises the fob exactly as before. Nothing to program, and the car does not need to be present. A new auxiliary blade comes with the shell, and we cut it to your door lock by code or from your current blade. Doing the swap yourself? Open the old fob carefully at the seam, lift the board out without bending the battery contacts, and seat it in the new case the same way round. If any button feels dead afterwards, the rubber pad may be sitting wrong. We are happy to do the transfer at the counter if you would rather not. Make sure your key is the three-button version with lock, unlock and panic; four-button keys need the matching shell.
