The HYQ14AEM smart key, and how we set one up.
Three quite different Lexus cars share this fob: the comfortable ES350 sedan, the folding hardtop IS C and the V8 IS F. What they have in common is a proximity system that reads the key from your pocket and a four-button layout with a dedicated trunk button alongside lock, unlock and panic. On the IS C, the trunk button matters more than usual, since the roof folds into that space. The smart key must be registered to the car through its keyless system, so the vehicle has to be with us. We also cut the metal key that slides out of the fob, which is your way in through the driver's door if the battery in the fob or the car gives up. For programming, please have the registration and photo ID ready. These fobs often come to us with a trunk button that no longer clicks, or with the seam split from being sat on in a back pocket. If the car still detects the fob, a battery or a case may be all it needs. If you have lost your only key, let us know up front at 604-734-7233 and we will explain how that job works.
