The NBG010206T flip key, and how we set one up.
Golf, Jetta, Passat and Tiguan owners from 2011 to 2016 mostly carry this key: a black flip key with lock, unlock, trunk and panic, and a blade that springs out when you press the release. It goes in the ignition and turns like a traditional key, unlike the keyless PEPS version, which shares the outside look but suits cars with a start button. VW blades are cut on a laser-style track down the middle rather than notched along the edge, so they need a proper machine, not a hardware store duplicator. We cut yours to an existing key or to code, then program the chip to the immobiliser and the remote to the car. The vehicle needs to be present for programming, and VW systems from these years differ by model, so let us confirm yours. The weak points are well known: the flip spring wears out, the blade pivot loosens, and the plastic around the battery cracks.
