Automotive Keys 2013-2020 Toyota - Transponder Key Vancouver

Not every Toyota key of this period had buttons. Fleet trims, base models and the second key on many vehicles were plain transponder keys: a blade with a small immobiliser chip sealed in the head and no transmitter at all. This listing is that key, covering the 2013 to 2020 model years. It opens the door by turning the lock and it starts the engine because the chip answers the car's challenge when the key is in the ignition; it does not lock or unlock the doors from a distance, and it never will, so if you want buttons you need the remote head version instead. The job has two parts and both are done by us rather than a dealership. The blade is cut to the vehicle's lock code, then the chip is registered to the immobiliser with the car connected, and on the older end of this range Toyota's system runs a timed security wait before it will accept a new chip when no working key exists, which is where the extra time in an all keys lost job goes. A shell exists for this key too, an empty head and a blank blade into which the original chip can be moved, but on a plain key the saving is small and we rarely suggest it; treat this listing as the whole key. A worn plain key is the most common thing we see with these: the blade thins at the shoulder, the head loosens where it meets the metal, and eventually the key turns the door but no longer reaches the correct depth in the ignition.
