Three buttons on a Ford proximity fob means lock, unlock and panic, with no trunk release and no remote start. It suits push start Fords from 2015 to 2017 that were built without those extras, and it is also a sensible choice for a second-driver key on a vehicle that has them, if the owner does not need those buttons. Ford used the same Intelligent Access approach across many of its cars and SUVs in these years, but the fob's frequency and electronics have to match your vehicle. We check model and year before programming and will tell you if a different fob is needed. Getting the fob working means programming it through the diagnostic port with the vehicle present. We also cut the emergency blade that slides out of the fob, since the driver's door lock is the only way in if the battery quits. With one working key, we add the new one beside it. With none, we originate a key at the vehicle; all keys lost on a Ford is a job we do routinely. Either way, bring the registration and photo ID.
