The Ford smart key, and how we set one up.
The full-size Expedition and the compact Escape sit at opposite ends of Ford's SUV range, but in these years both could carry this four button proximity fob. Typically that is lock, unlock, the rear liftgate and panic. Some Escape builds put remote start on the fourth position instead, so match the icons on your current fob to be safe.
A quick way to tell you have an Intelligent Access fob: the vehicle starts with a push button, and a small catch on the back of the fob releases a short metal key. That key is the only physical way into the vehicle when the fob's battery is flat or the SUV's battery has died. We cut it to your driver's door so it works when it counts.
Ford fobs are paired through the vehicle's diagnostic port. On many Ford models, having two working keys allows a simpler process, while one key or none takes a longer procedure. Either way, the vehicle must be there, with the registration and the owner's photo ID.
If an Expedition or Escape came to you second-hand with one fob, now is the time to add a spare. We do it at our shop or come to you.
How to order. Call with the SKU. We confirm the price, the stock and the fit, then cut, program or fit it. Items in stock are usually ready the same day.

Can you program this key to my car?
If the FCC ID or part number matches your key, yes. We program it at the counter or at your car.
Do I need the car there?
For programming, yes. The key is paired to the car itself.
My key looks the same but the FCC ID differs. Will it work?
No, it will not program. Match the FCC ID, not the look.
Can you erase a lost key?
Where the car allows it, yes. We remove the lost key from the car's memory when we program the new one.
What ID do you need?
Photo ID, and the registration or insurance in your name.
