Automotive Keys 2021-2023 Hyundai Elantra / 5-Button Smart Key Vancouver

Five buttons on an Elantra fob generally means your car has remote start, which Hyundai offered on the push-start trims of the 2021-2023 Elantra. Alongside lock, unlock, trunk and panic, the extra control lets you start the engine from outside the car. If your original fob has four buttons instead, your car likely lacks that feature and you should ask us to confirm the right key. A proximity key is never inserted anywhere. The Elantra detects it near the doors and inside the cabin, and the start button only works while the fob is recognised. When the coin cell inside goes flat, the car usually still starts if you hold the fob against the start button, and the hidden blade opens the driver's door. We cut that blade and pair the new key using the car's diagnostic port, which requires the Elantra, your registration and photo ID. Replacing a lost key while another still works is the easy route. Losing every key means we program from scratch at the vehicle. Either way, no dealer visit is needed; we can do it at our Macdonald St shop or where the car is parked.
