The Honda remote head key, and how we set one up.
Honda's remote head key, with lock, unlock and panic buttons above the blade, covers a long run of Civics, Accords, CR-Vs, Fits and Odysseys. Fifteen years is a long time for one case design, and the failure is nearly always the same: the rubber button pad wears through, or the case splits at the blade. This shell is a fresh outer case, three-button pad and uncut blade. It contains no electronics. We take the board and transponder out of your old key, fit them into this case, cut the blade on our code machine and test both the remote and the ignition. Since nothing electronic changes, the car carries on as before without programming. A small but useful check: some Hondas of this period have a trunk button as a fourth button, and some have a remote start function. This shell is the three-button layout only, so count yours. If it does not match, ask us to confirm for your trim/year. Doing it yourself is possible if you are handy, but the blade still has to be cut, and that is where we come in. Most people simply bring the old key to the counter and let us do both. If your remote does nothing even with a fresh battery, the board may be the problem and a complete key is the better option.
