When a Honda or Acura remote head key still works but the head is splitting apart, a shell is often all it takes. This one is a four-button housing with an uncut blade and no electronics inside. Common reasons for buying it: a split seam that lets the board slide out, buttons that have torn through, or a blade that has worn down from years of use. In each case, the remote board and transponder chip in the old key are usually still good. What we do is open your old key, move the board and chip into this shell, and cut the new blade to your ignition and doors. As the original electronics come along, your Honda will accept it without programming. One caution: the chip in Honda keys is sometimes a separate small part rather than built into the board. It has to make it across into the new shell, otherwise the key will turn but the engine will not start. That is one reason we prefer to do the transfer for you. Bring the damaged key with you. If the board itself has failed, a full remote head key is the answer instead.
