The four-button key is also common on hatchbacks and Si models, but trims vary, so we confirm with your VIN. The Civic's proximity system unlocks the doors when you grab the handle and lets the start button work while the fob is in your pocket. Its weak point is the coin cell; when the dash says the key is not detected, a new cell is the first step.
