About this item
MIT16A is a Mitsubishi key profile with a chip in the head, used on a number of Mitsubishi cars and SUVs. Because Mitsubishi paired its blades with different chips over the years, the first thing we do is confirm which chip your vehicle expects. Give us the year and model, or bring your current key so we can read the stamping and test the chip, and we will tell you if this is the right key. A Mitsubishi with an immobiliser will turn over on a cut-only key and then refuse to run, which surprises people who have had a hardware-store copy made. Programming the chip is what fixes that. We cut the MIT16A blade, either from code or by decoding your key, and register the chip at the vehicle once we have checked the registration and your photo ID. Common jobs on this key include a second key for a used Outlander or Lancer bought with only one, and replacing a key whose head has broken around the chip. If the chip survived and only the case broke, the matching Mitsubishi shell is the cheaper fix. If the key is gone entirely, we make a new one at the car.
